
Every year North America witnesses top hairstylists and beauty professionals being honored with the industry’s most prestigious awards – NAHA at a grand awards ceremony.
Every professional working in the hair & beauty industry dreams to win the NAHA in their lifetime. There are various categories in which awards are given to professionals who excel in Make Up, Hairstyling, Texture, Fashion, etc.
There are various hairstyling competitions and each one of them have different set of rules and judging procedure. If you are a hairstylist who wants to do competitions and enter NAHA, then here’s the judging procedure for NAHA Awards:
Each judge reviews the categories individually and confidentially to determine the top five finalists and winners. The finalists are announced before the NAHA winners are honored during the NAHA Awards Ceremony.
Three types of judges take part in the NAHA judging:
- Top Hairstylists
- Trade Editors
- Consumer Beauty Editors

While judging entries, NAHA judges take into consideration the following:
- Concept or overall creative approach
- Art direction and composition
- Demonstration of skill in the execution of style, make-up and appropriate wardrobe
- Harmony between photographer’s execution and stylist’s creativity
- Appropriateness of image for concept
- Technical ability corresponding to category entered
- Continuity of all images within the entry
- Appropriate use of lighting highlighting details
