I think I’m a natural righty – it was only until a few months ago I started to train myself to write with my non-dominant (left) hand. Since then, I started to use that hand a lot, to strengthen it, and it felt very natural, and it didn’t feel as if I was forcing myself and putting myself in a lot of bother using my left hand more. Here are some things I do with my left hand: stir, spread butter on toast, eat cereal, pour drinks, hold my bottle when I’m drinking, text, brush my teeth and hair, hammer nails, throw a baseball, use scissors and more. I really believe that I’ve got more strength in my left hand, and I’d only discovered that a few months ago, as everyone in my family is right-dominant and I never thought of it. Just recently, when I was working in a lab, a left-handed person commented how I seemed to be using my left hand even more (even when I use the mouse), and I’d never really thought about it. My friend has also commented that I use all the fingers (and thumb!) of my left hand, but only the middle finger of my right hand to type – although I think this is a universal trait. I use my fork and knife in a right-handed way, but sometimes I can’t find the strength in my right hand to e.g. cut my steak, and I switch with my left hand. Sometimes, I even feel unnatural doing stuff with my right hand e.g. using my mouse although I’ve been using my mouse with my right hand practically all my life. So I reckon that my right hand’s more on precision (writing only) and my left hand’s more on strength (all else). So… am I ambidextrous?
if you can write with you left hand and then your right hand you are ambidextrous
