it does leave little pieces of hair… but when your hair is thinned out with the thinning shears… it should be done on the under layers of hair… not near the crown… and they shouldn't be short enough that they can stick out

i normally get my hair cut professionally and they use a razor. i've started trimming my own bangs however using scissors but can't seem to achieve the same look, where can i purchase a razor (and which kind do i get?) to cut my hair and are they easy to use or should i just stick with scissors?

If you have really sharp scissors, you can use that to razor your bangs. That technique is the easiest when trying to texture a side bang, the kind that is slanted, not straight across. If you want to buy a razor, they sell them at walmart, rite aid, any store that has a lot of school supplies. The exacto blades are the best.

We paid a friend to watch our two dogs while we were on vacation for ten days. She has two dogs also and a huge back yard. I also lived with her for a year with all of our dogs. So our dogs were not strangers with one another. I picked them up on a Sat at 5pm, my friend was not home. My German Shep/Chow got in the back seat and lay ed down till we got home. I thought he was just pooped out from playing all week and his hair was standing out on his neck. My boyfriend had everything outside to wash them as soon as I got them home because they are inside dogs. My dog stepped out of the car and I put my hand on his neck where the hair was standing up and he was bleeding. I got out the scissors and cut away his hair. It was horrible. I called her and she told me her dog and my dog got into a fight the day before. We took him right to the ER ( the only thing open on a Sat). Both vets said he was bit either the day we left or the day after and that it did not happen the day before. It was so infected it needed a drain. The wound also had a lot of dead skin that had to be cut out. We had them clean him up at the ER and went to Ban field the next day( only thing open on Sunday) for surgery. A drain and stitches and $1240.00 later he is doing much better. Every ones question to me was how did she or her three older girls not notice? My friend said she never noticed. I believe it was total neglect on her part. Should I even ask her for money, or her homeowners ins? I live pay check to pay check and I had to max out my credit card for this, I am very upset and we work together.

Your dog was in the care of your friend who was negligent and didn't take any action to give your dog a proper care. Because of her negligence you had a huge vet bill and your dog suffered thrugh sergery, it might have been avoided if the wound was taken care of right away, so she is responsible for the vet bill. Any attorney will tell you that. You have proff from the vet that the wound was left unantendant for way longer than 1 day, and that alone puts your friend as a responsible for the bill. I would talk to her first and try to work out something out. If she is your friend she will be understanding and will take care of the bill or at least will make payment to you to cover the bill. I've seen to many cases were people loose their friendships over stuff like that and I hope it won't be the case. Just talk to her in the most civil manner possible show her proff from the vet and explain your situation. If she doesn't wants to settle this in a civil manner go to an attorney, I know I would.
Good luck and I hope your doggy is doing better.

What do you think of this work in progress? It’s a bit choppy at the moment, but is it comprehensible? And any suggestions for smoothing it out?

The Environment Tells Stories

Unattended Children comb the shore
in search of souvenirs,
overflowing buckets, shirts carefully folded
into sacks

as lovers are spackled in sand,
arms and legs lifting
from their shoreline molds, hair tossed in ropes
of strands banded together by the heaviness
of an unbrushed wind.

We were lovers too,
whose ballads were nothing
next to oil spills and raging wars.
Our foam filled spills capped waves
as empty bottles rolled to sea, broke against
the jagged cliffs and tangled in the passing weed.

Our youthful years were etched in glass diaries,
past decades of Coca Cola bottles and key chain openers,
remnants of a time laced with heavier burdens and heavier play,
life-long lessons of love left to file in the sand,
smoothed away in tossed grains
to thick stones of lime green gems,
less abrasive to the soles of feet
or an aging hand.
We left you jewels dear children,
leave the shells to the homeless crawling the sand
and listen to the waves.
They will always be the sounds of a fading song.
Thank you for the lovely comment and wonderful tips Grannyjill, and I hope I do have others that would meaure up to this. I was listening to Starship and the urge hit me to write it.

And thank you Kevin S and Janet as well for the helpful comments.

Interesting poem…stanza 2, line 4…consider dropping “of” and just say, “strands banded together…”, it avoids repeating “of” as an opener to that and the next line, and makes the flow a little more fluid. Stanza 3, line 2…consider, “our ballads” and line 4, drop the “our”…same for line 1 of stanza 4…just say, “youthful years etched in glass diaries”. You’ll find that many grammatical prepositions and articles are better left out of poetry…the lines read a little tighter when you remove those words that don’t actually add to the meaning. Add a comma after “jewels”. Nice ending.

…keep writing

i am :) im kinda both actually. i write, eat, and glue things with my left hand. i use scissors, go bowling, catch& throw with my right hand. LOL :)

YEH! left handers rule! haha
I always write and pick things up with my left, something I’ve done since infancy
But anything that I’ve had to learn by watching other people: like you, bowling, bowling in cricket, playing badminton…put i can always switch….well, we are a minority aren’t we?
