Beehive hairstyle is one of the most desired women’s hairstyles today. Everyone has been scrambling to get a new look for the season and the regular hair updos or colored hair are out as people want something new and trendy and hence we are seeing the return of retro hairstyles.

The Beehive hairstyle is a woman’s hairstyle that resembles a beehive; it is also known as the B-52. This style was highly popular throughout the 1960s, particularly in the United States and other Western countries. Celebrities like Christina Aguilera and Amy Winehouse have also sported this hairdo and have received much appreciation for their celebrity hairstyle.

This style works best on hair that isn’t squeaky-clean. I researched on how to achieve a Beehive and thought of sharing the simple process which does not require many hair shears. So here’s the simple process to get a Beehive:

  1. Separate the hair into two sections by combing a part from one ear around to the other in a straight line. Take the top section and, using a fine-toothed tail comb, backcomb from the front to the back of the crown in chunks of about 3 inches wide, from root to tip.
  2. Flip the top section of backcombed hair forward and secure it to one side with a clip. Then, begin to backcomb through the bottom layers in the same way for creating texture and keeping the beehive secure.
  3. Take a bristle brush and using just the tip; gently brush the surface of the hair downwards from the crown. The aim is to smooth over the top layer of backcombed hair, not brush it out completely – you want to keep the “nestiness”
  4. Pull all the hair down towards the nape of the neck, as if to put it in a low ponytail. Slide all of the hair over to the right and secure it with a vertical row of grips.
  5. Take the hair from the right-hand side and twist it to the left and towards the crown, creating an upwards roll in one movement.
  6. Tease and define the crown by pulling away random strands of hair with your fingers. Finally, spritz with a malleable hairspray to get a perfect Beehive hairstyle.

Professional hair shears are always a better option when it comes to hairstyling. Their quality and durability always produce awesome haircuts, much better than what the cheap hairdressing tools would ever do.

All the celebrated stylists’ trust professional hair shears for styling their client’s hair and the results are mostly amazing. We have seen how professional hair shears created magic for Carrie Prejan when she won the Miss California title. More recently, these hairdressing tools helped Pixie Geldof attain the frizzy mullet hairstyle at the London Fashion Week.

In fact, professional hair shears are one of the main reasons behind the success of The Obama Cut.

Did you know that the haircut of America’s President costs $21? It sounds strange, but the secret behind The Obama Cut was revealed by ‘First Barber’ Zariff of the Hyde Park Hair Salon, recently. He went on to say,

The Obama Cut is a custom cut. It came about in 2004 when Mr. Obama came into the shop and said he was speaking at the Democratic National Convention that evening. So I had to make him look sharp. Before that he was wearing his hair longer and a little curlier. I took it down to a short cut, tapered on the sides, back and neck. I wanted it to look more natural.

It’s the sheer hard work of the hairstylist which allows Mr. Obama to look so professional wherever he goes. I am sure that to achieve The Obama Cut, Zariff must have used professional hair shears because without them, this haircut would not have been such a sensation.

Chris Rock’s movie – Good Hair releases this Friday. The film is based on the African American Hairstyles and the cosmetology industry.

Its said that Chris Rock was inspired to make this movie because he got depressed when his daughters complained to him about their looks. Chris tried to calm them down but the girls didn’t listen up. And that’s when he decided to make a movie that would highlight the role hair, hairstyles and everyone in the cosmetology industry play in the lives of African Americans.

A good article that talks about this movie in more detail can be found here – http://www.hairshearsblog.com/10291/african-american-hairstyles-inspired-chris-rock-to-make-good-hair/

The color pink has become synonymous with showing support for various awareness programs and initiatives. Breast cancer awareness month starts today, and we already see ribbons, bracelets and even pink hair as colorful examples of support.

Now, women can wear their support around the clock with SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions’ Pink Hair for Hope program, which is taking place at Brittany’s Spa Salon. For each $10 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, anyone can wear their support by receiving a beautiful Pink Hair Extension!

I think Pink Hair for Hope is an innovative way for all of us to show our support for such a wonderful and serious cause. And when professional hair salons take up such initiatives, it raises the bar for the entire cosmetology industry.

Last year, the North American Pink Hair For Hope Program raised $480,000 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Their aim is to raise more than $500,000 this year and Brittany’s Spa Salon will be helping them in achieving this target. We think this will probably lead to many women sporting pink hair!

The main organizers – SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions is the official North American branch of the Italian based SO.CAP. srl international company. They have been featured in many professional beauty trade and consumer publications around the world.

The pink hair extension graft signifies a unifying bond between women who have undoubtedly known someone who has been touched by breast cancer in some way. If you are concerned as to how the pink hair would look with your natural hair, then you need not worry. All the stylists at Brittany’s Spa Salon are completely trained in cosmetology education and know how to go about their job.

The stylists in the professional hair salons use quality shears while attaching the pink hair extension to your natural hair which is very close to the scalp. It is bonded to the hair using 100% keratin, the same protein that makes up our own natural hair, so there is no damage to the natural hair once the extension is removed.
