Recently, I was admitted to the hospital with chest pains. (about 45 days ago). I was put under observation overnight. The nurse tried to start an IV and couldn’t. Then, she got another nurse…no dice. Then the charge nurse took a stab. FINALLY, they hit a vein in the fold of my arm. This was uncomfortable because I was told to keep my arm straight. I had a some kind of dye injected CT scan which I assume was to view my heart/lungs, etc. Well, about half way thru the night, it was driving me nuts having to keep one arm straight. So ….I asked the new nurse on duty to try again in a place where i could move my arms. She made an attempt…..Strike 1. At this point, 2 ICU nurses came into my room. One of these girls was pushing the needle in , pulling out, pushing in, pulling out, pretty much like a sewing machine. I never did see her hit blood (in the beginning part of the tube) but she assured me she hit a vein. I trustingly said, "mmmmkay" putting my faith in her abilities…..with reservation. This lady really hurt the hell out of me ‘fishing’ for a vein. Well these gals left and my nurse took the one out of the fold of my arm. Ahhh , the relief. I was able to sleep. As luck would have it, i didn’t need any more IV therapy since the new cath was put in. Anyhoo, I was released the next morning. Both arms were black/blue/red from the top my arms to my hands. The morning nurse yanked and yanked the tape off my arm. The cath popped out. Well, the catheter looked a little shorter than the other ones the pulled out. I should know, they stuck me about 8 times. Is it possible they sheared off the cath? Should I have any worries? I don’t want to look like an idiot going to get xrays for part of a tube stuck in me. If I did have a shaved off cath in me, circulating or stuck, would I most certainly notice it?

It is extremely unlikely that the catheter was sheared off. Its designed to be inserted and readjusted. The reason why it was shorter was probably because the nurse picked a smaller IVC to try. The smaller the catherter the smaller the vein they can put it into, and by the sounds of it, you have terrible veins, so they were hoping to be able to insert it in any vein they could. I am not sure what country you are in, but in the UK and Australia, the smallest catheter is a blue one, second smallest is a pink, third smallest is a green, then gray, orange and whites. So maybe the last one was a blue? I ve only ever witnessed one catheter breaking off, and it had been in the lady’s arm for about 1 week (much longer than recommended) , and the whole tube that was inside the vein did not come out. It was very obvious at the time and we had to make a small incision and fish it out. I really do not think the plastic inside the vein would have broken in half. Its very tough.
However if you are worried, go back to the doctor. They may do an x ray of your arm to soothe your anxiety, but they would not X ray your whole body looking for it.

. I am 18 years old and my mother decided to cut my hair to punish me. Because I had not returned to the house and that I had spent all the night outside. It took me along in a very old barber-shop. I was very humiliated. My dark hair was really long, falling on my mouth and on my shoulders.

Their was nobody in the shop when we entered. Only the barber. My mother said to her that she wanted that this haircut like a real punishment for me, and she explained why.

The barber answered: `it is an excellent lesson for undisciplined teenagers… The parents should ore often think of that…" My mother plunged a hand in my hair and trailed me in the chair.

The barber called to my mother: "if you want, so that he does not forget the punishment, we can have him all the afternoon in the chair awaiting his cut… Made your shopping, takes your time and returns towards the closing of the shop, I will cut his hair when you return"…

While she spoke with my mother, she covered me with a large blue cape, and tightened my neck with a white neck duster. She combed my hair hard by firmly holding my head with its other hand. My mother said: "you are right, leave it like that until the end of the afternoon, with his hair which falls on his face… he is ridiculous like that, and it is very well for her !" Them my mother left the shop and and I remained alone with the barber. I was terrified.

Time passing, I wanted to urinate and I asked to the barber if I could go to the toilets. she said to me : `not, my boy, it was necessary to think of it front, urinate in your trousers if you want, it is your problem, me I know only one thing : you do not go down from the chair before yourhaircut!`

My mother returned to the shop around 6 p.m.

She sat down and my mother said to the barber that the haircut could start. The barber rectified my head, still combed me, a long time, and it started to cut long pieces of hair around myears with scissors. Their was a sheavy silence in the shop; and only sharp snap of the scissors which cut my hair.

The barber made all the turn of my head like that, by raising the wicks of hair with his comb and while cutting all that exceeded. The more it crossed, the more I felt to become again little boy.

About 15 minutes in half my hair had been snipped off. My mother got up and the barber stopped. My mom walked around me inspecting my haircut then said to the barber let me take a picture of him so the barber swivled the chair round and my mom got her phone out to take a picture. Then she said to her that I would look good with that haircut only if it were ginger. The barber understood immediately took the cape off me and my mother dragged me to the otherside of the room to the seat with the sink. For the next half hour my head was put in the bowl with someliquid and I came out of it and was dragged back to the original chair and had the cape put round me I was ginger. My mother took another picture and then said to the barber to finnish me off.

By that I had no idea what she meant but soon understood when I saw the smile on the barbers face and hear the thud and a click which meant one thing the clippers were out. My humiliation was completed with a total head shave. I was dragged out and have been sent to that barber shop by mother four times more for stuff like leaving the table before everyone else to do homework because I was being rude what should I do?

The best thing you can do to get back on your mother without getting in trouble is to pretend you enjoy it, that way she will doubt about making that to you again, the best way to make it is by rubbing your head and saying how great it feels, in an indirect way.

i have thick hair and i want to thin it out but i don’t want to cut it off…
so i was wondering if thinning shears cut off my hair or not?
best answer gets 5 stars!

thinning shears will cut hair off (not length, but hair), the shears have slots so that only certain hair is cut, it will give you layers, however, i don’t recommend cutting it yourself, go to a salon, even a cheap salon like super cuts or great clips and they will do it for a good price too, all you have to do is tell them you want it thinned out or layered and that you don’t want any length taken off, also a razor cut will do the same thing, the stylist will know what the best tools are to use for your hair type.

Ok, I’m a 17 year old male and I had tried cutting my pubic hair once and it was successful. HOWEVER, it got VERY itchy afterwards and I just couldnt do anything about it. the itchiness stayed for about 3 days and I dont wanna go through that again. What should I do?

P.S. I DONT WANT TO SHAVE IT, I just want to cut the hair.
Thanks :)

just trim off a bit. don’t go all the way down and it wont itch. maybe put lotion with aloe vera in it on the area after shaving
