NAHA 2010 Entry Deadlines Fast Appr...

Attention stylists and students: Hurry up and register for the North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) — the deadlines are approaching fast.

Show off your skill and add prestige to your portfolio! By entering NAHA, you are joining the ranks of the industry’s brightest and most talented artists – Be part of the most prestigious hairstyling competition in North America!

The North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) is the most prestigious photographic beauty competition in North America, celebrating the artistry and skill of the professional salon industry.

NAHA 2010 will be held on July 18, 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Resort during PBA Beauty Week.

PBA Beauty Week is North America’s largest, most inclusive beauty event, offering unlimited networking, education, and professional growth opportunities to all sectors of the beauty industry. PBA Beauty Week is produced by PBA and is held in cooperation with Cosmoprof North America.

NAHA 2010 will include a new category – Salon MBA (Salon Master of Business Award). This new category is open to strategic, business-savvy salon owners generating at least $300,000 and provides an opportunity for owners to showcase their salon.

How to Enter NAHA 2010

This is the best opportunity for any stylist to showcase his/her talent on a massive platform. The registration can be made in 2 ways – online and via mail. Entering NAHA 2010 online is the fastest and easiest way to make sure your entry gets in on time! Interested entrants should carefully read all the rules and regulations and download the NAHA Online-Entry Release Form. If you wish to mail-in your entries, make sure you include the following:

  • CD-ROM containing images for that entry ONLY (include entrant name, salon/school and category on disc)
  • Printed images, thumbnails or contact sheets of your entry
  • Completed entry form
  • Completed release form
  • Payment (check/money order or credit card information)
  • Haircolor Technical Information Form, Editorial Stylist Entry Information Form or Salon Design Entry Information Form, if applicable.

Hair Shears to give Free Recession...

Hair shears are often used by stylists while cutting or styling hair. However, every salon or stylist charges for their services. Come December 14th and you could be the lucky one amongst 250 people to get a Free Recession Haircut with the help of hair shears.

The current state of the economy is not too good. Numerous people have lost their jobs and are finding it extremely difficult to get new ones. The times are indeed tough and people are controlling their spending habits by limiting their visits to salons. Various salons have reported a decrease in attracting new clients, especially during this holiday season. I hope their hair shears do not get rusted due to lack of usage following less number of clients.

In spite of such difficult times, there are a few salons which are organizing charitable events. One such salon is Carter Barnes salon in Atlanta which is organizing an event called Carter Barnes Beauty Boost to be held on Monday, December 14th. The objective of this event is to provide a free Recession Haircut for those who are out of work, having financial problems or victims of the flood.

Carter Barnes Beauty Boost will see 250 men and women get free haircuts and hair color and even Botox injections for some from a local plastic surgeon. Good quality hair shears will be used to give free haircuts to all the selected individuals. The presence of a career coach who will assist with resumes and interview skills will be an additional feature which may provide jobs to those who have undergone cosmetology education.

How to participate in Carter Barnes Beauty Boost?

If you’ve lost your job or your home, affected by the economy or the recent floods, you are eligible to apply. To participate in Carter Barnes Beauty Boost, you will have to fill out the application and provide a current photo of yourself. You will be notified via e-mail on or around December 7, if you have been chosen as a candidate.

TIP: If you wish to maximize your chances of entering the event, send a letter describing your financial struggles along with a photo.

This is a nice charitable initiative by Carter Barnes salon which will see 250 people get a free recession haircut. I am sure you don’t want to miss this opportunity to get a new style for the holiday season with professional hair shears.

Susan Boyle Makeover consists of ne...

The Susan Boyle makeover has become the talk of the town. She no longer appears to be the old funny lady who had become a celebrity when she appeared as a contestant on Britain’s Got Talent this year. She now has got a new hair ‘do and looks much more appealing.

Susan Boyle makeover not only surprised Susan but many others who had seen her earlier. “You look gorgeous, I’m loving the hair!” Those were the words of Meredith Vieira after meeting a newly elegant Susan Boyle, during her interview with Today.

When Susan made her first public appearance on the television, she looked like a fusty woman with graying and frizzy hair. She looks 10 years younger now following the now famous Susan Boyle makeover. Her stylist did a great job by using professional hair shears to style her hair. Even her dark, unkempt eyebrows have been shaped and colored which has been possible due to a professional cosmetologist.

It is great to see Susan in such a new avatar. I believe even her stylist deserves equal appreciation for performing the Susan Boyle makeover in such a professional manner. Post makeover, Susan seems to have taken years off her looks. That is the magic of being a cosmetologist.

Celebrate With Pink Hair For Hope!

The color pink has become synonymous with showing support for various awareness programs and initiatives. Breast cancer awareness month starts today, and we already see ribbons, bracelets and even pink hair as colorful examples of support.

Now, women can wear their support around the clock with SO.CAP. USA Hair Extensions’ Pink Hair for Hope program, which is taking place at Brittany’s Spa Salon. For each $10 donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, anyone can wear their support by receiving a beautiful Pink Hair Extension!
