Hair can be considered one of as woman’s greates assets – and according to a study in the UK, the average woman spends over $50,000 keeping up this asset in her adult life – stylists probably even more so. From products to speciality shears, left handed scissors, expensive extensions, seminars, learning new techniques, etc. the bills quickly add up!

Now there’s a nutritional approach to helping your hair look its best.  The Viviscal Regular Strength hair nourishment system is a nutritional supplement that strengthens and promotes existing hair growth by nourishing hair follicles naturally from within to achieve thicker, longer hair. Developed by Finnish scientists, Viviscal Regular Strength has been widely scientifically tested and contains a pure marine protein complex called AminoMar C – a combination of marine extracts, organic silica and Vitamin C – which provides the essential proteins and nutrients for healthy hair.

GP and Naturopath, Deborah McManners explains: “I regularly speak to women who have always had thin hair or are naturally prone to slow hair growth and they feel they just have to live with it. While styling products and hair extensions can help the hair to appear thicker and longer they are not long term solutions. The good news is that the condition and length of your hair can be significantly enhanced by taking a nutritional dietary supplement which feeds the hair follicles with the nutrients they need to promote healthy hair growth.”

A man who admitted to burgling eight hair salon in England and stealing close to $10,000 in stylist’ tips will be going to prison for a year.

It’s a little odd that in such a lucraitve locale like a salon, he would opt for tips, and not expensive tools like left handed scissors, razors, or special shears. Some theives recently have gone for hair extensions or wigs.

Darren Holloway, 23, raided salons during August and September, and pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary.

Holloway was caught as a result of forensic evidence gathered at the scenes.

A spokeswoman for the police said: “Some of the money was kept in desk drawers and quite easy to get into.

“Our understanding is that he was stealing to feed a habit and these petty cash boxes were adequate for his needs.”

What is the deal with this updo?!

Considering Jennifer Love Hewitt just lost a bunch of weight (I know, wasn’t she already super-skinny?) her new hair do may be her answer to balancing herself back out. At the Emmy’s she wore a huge, puffed up – and falling out of place – hair style that looked like it might have been cut into place by, say, a right handed person using left handed scissors. Definitely not the good kind of “undone.”

Other than that, her dress was great, her style choices were spot-on, but we just can’t figure out what was going through her – or her stylist’s – head when they decided on that look. Seems like she needs someone in her entourage who’s willing to just tell her the gods-honest truth.

We know of one star who’s gone the complete opposite direction (i.e., reducing her hair down to VERY little!) that might be able to help!

A trailer parked out back of someone’s home may not be your first choice when it comes to where your stylist is located – most people are likely to pick a salon based on ammenities, location, services, types of shears and scissors including thinning shears, left handed scissors, making sure the stylist has whatever tools are needed! But a trailer has served one woman well for forty years. Lucille Spicer is turning 90, and she has spent many of her days in the beauty shop/trailer behind her home in kansas.

“I’ve done hundreds and hundreds of customers,” Lucille says. It started back in the 1940′s, when Lucille spent six months in the Venus beauty school in Wichita. “We had uniforms made out of white sheets that we ironed. I’m old-fashioned. We did pincurls with hairpins – not bobby pins. You had to really study. We had to know all about muscles and everything inside the head. I had to learn to use brush rollers for the shop. I couldn’t do these young girls of today – no way.”

In her prime Lucille did 10 customers a day six days a week, although she says she has slown down because she is “not very fast,” now. Still, she describes herslef as “Probably the happiest woman in Hazelton.”
